I started sports photography when we used to visits events at the weekend like Badminton Horse Trials, Thruxton, Moto X etc. When at Leeds University I worked for the Leeds Student Newspaper and tried to cover as many different sports as possible, processing my films and printing them for the Monday deadline. I also attended the World Student Games Universiade at Sheffield in 1991 with a press pass which was a great experience. I shot film with a 5fps motordrive and manual focus telephoto lenses so the hit rate was very low. As autofocus and digital camera became common place this made sport photography a little easier but I had already stopped doing sport by mid 2000s. Sports photography is now back on the agenda and I am looking to try and increase my portfolio and cover some new sports/events and expand the portfolio below.
